Onkwehonwehnéha Tewathahíta showcased Onkwehonwehnéha / Kanien’kéha (Mohawk language) as an asset by demonstrating career opportunities and community initiatives that require speakers with the ability to teach, promote, and advocate for Kanien’kéha within our communities.

This event was a huge success and may become an annual gathering in Kahnawà:ke!

KEC Secures ALI Implementation Grant

The Kahnawà:ke Education Center & Project Leader Kahtehrón:ni Iris Stacey secured an implementation grant from the Aboriginal Languages Initiative in the fall of 2019. The purpose of this second grant is to support the implementation and further development of the Five-Year Strategic Plan for Language Revitalization in Kahnawà:ke. The grant will support one full-time or two part-time project facilitators to work closely with community schools and organizations on their language plans.
